Real Words, from Real People

"I moved into Recovery NOW in June 2022 and it was exactly the environment I needed to build a solid foundation for my recovery. The structure of the house, the support from other residents, and the encouragement from the owner, Rick, created a safe and positive space where I was able to truly thrive.
Following the house rules—such as completing daily chores and maintaining curfew—helped me develop responsibility and independence. Over time, I was given the opportunity to become the house manager, where I served as a role model and helped new residents begin their own recovery journeys.
Rick maintains a strong commitment to ensuring all Recovery Now homes are safe and sober environments. His consistent enforcement of house rules and use of random drug testing promote accountability and trust among residents.
The location is ideal as well—being close to a place where AA meetings are held frequently throughout the day, and near many local employment opportunities.
Today, I remain sober and am preparing to get married in just two weeks—something I never imagined possible before my time at Recovery NOW. I am deeply grateful to Rick and the Recovery NOW community for their role in my growth and success.
I highly recommend Recovery NOW to anyone who is struggling with addiction and looking for a structured, supportive, and empowering environment to rebuild their life."

"I came to Recovery NOW two and a half years ago after a 16 year battle with drugs and alcohol. I was at rock bottom and had no idea how to solve my drug and alcohol problem. I have faced court cases here and have come out the other side. I have faced financial hardship that Rick helped me walk through. I learned how to stand up and be a man here.
I got sober here!
One of the life saving rules that Rick Wheeler holds us all accountable to is 90 meetings in 90 days. With an AA meeting located on the same street, just a 10 minute walk away, there is no room for excuses to make this happen.
Rick fills his SLEs with people who are hungry for recovery and he has a zero tolerance policy that keeps us all accountable.
I have gone from hopeless to helpful during my time living at Recovery NOW. I went from someone who couldn’t progress in life to someone who sponsors men at Recovery NOW. I am surrounded by a brotherhood of men who are respectful and receptive. This is a space where you get what you put in. It is a space where I have been safe to put in the work and get the results.
I am two and a half years clean today and I owe nothing but gratitude to Rick Wheeler. If I can do it, you can do it too.
If you’re looking for a place to get sober and get back on your feet, I would recommend no other place than Recovery NOW."

When I came to Recovery NOW, I was already in active recovery. I had a sponsor, I was working the steps, and I was committed to changing my life. I wasn’t broken like I had been before—I was finally on solid ground.
Usually, Rick doesn’t take people who haven’t completed a residential treatment program, but he made an exception for me because he could see that I was serious about my recovery and doing the work. That decision showed me something important about him—he truly cares about who he allows into this house, not just for the individual’s sake but for the safety and well-being of everyone who already lives here. He protects the environment, because one bad apple really can spoil the bunch.
What I’m most grateful for is the stability that Recovery NOW provides. I pay my rent each month, I share a room with a good roommate, and I don’t have to struggle with loneliness. The lights stay on, the bills are paid, and the air conditioner works—all those simple things that add up to peace of mind.
That kind of stability gives me the foundation I need to keep growing in my recovery and in my relationship with God. It allows me to focus on giving back, to be part of a supportive community, and to keep walking this path one day at a time.
I’m thankful to Rick and to Recovery NOW for creating a place where men can continue building a strong, healthy life after the chaos of addiction. This home has given me not just a place to live, but a place to keep becoming the man I was always meant to be.

"I have been using since I was 13. I came [to Recovery NOW] from a 90 day program. Before that I was ready to die. I was using and drinking every day, all day. I shut my family out and lost visits with my son.
When I was using I felt there was no point anymore to live life. I had to go to detox to stay alive. I was there for nine days, had a stroke while I was there and for the first time, I didn't want to die.
This is the longest time I've ever had sober. I got to Ricks almost six months ago. My sobriety date is April 23 2025.
I have to say that my worst day sober is better then my best day high. Life is good today. I am happy. I go to at least two meetings a day, I'm building my support system with sober people and repairing my relationship with God.I love the girls here [at Recovery NOW] and it's safe and the structure here keeps me accountable.
My journey has not been easy but I am blessed today. By staying sober and having the right support, you can accomplish anything you want. Big thanks to Rick for giving me this opportunity to live a good life."

Recovery NOW offers a fantastic place to grow and flourish if you're ready to make a change.
One of the only SLE's out of the dozens I have stayed at that has provided a safe space for me to maintain consistent growth by ensuring strong accountability from the residents and follow through with participation in 12 step programs, while not suffocating you with overly strict rules.
[Recovery NOW] fosters a strong community in recovery and has allowed me to develop lasting friendships with people who truly care about me.
In a time when my life literally depended on whether I could find a safe place to finally make a change and grow, I can confidently say, I am so glad I chose Recovery NOW.

My name is Vincent and I’ve been sober for six and a half years. When I first got clean, I spent my first six months living at Recovery NOW, and that place truly changed my life.
Before I got there, I didn’t really understand what recovery meant or what it took to stay sober. At Recovery NOW, I learned the importance of getting a sponsor, going to meetings, and building real connections with people who understood what I was going through. The fellowship I found there gave me hope and reminded me that I wasn’t alone.
Rick, the sober living director, played a huge part in that. He kept me accountable with regular drug testing, made sure I had a sponsor, and encouraged me to keep showing up. Rick didn’t just run the house — he cared. He wanted to see us make it.
The house itself was clean, secure, and felt safe — something I really needed at that time in my life. It was a place where I could focus on myself and start rebuilding. Recovery NOW gave me the structure, support, and sense of belonging that helped me build the foundation for my sobriety today.
I’ll always be grateful for that experience and for the people there who believed in me before I believed in myself.

“RecoveryNow was a turning point in my life. When I moved into Rick Wheeler’s house, I found not just a place to live, but a community that supported my sobriety. The environment was clean, comfortable, and supportive of everyone’s recovery journey. Having the Alano Club just a short walk away made it easy to stay connected to meetings and accountability, which became such a vital part of my routine.
I ended up staying for over a year — long enough to not only get sober, but to learn how to stay sober and start building a new, fulfilling life. I’ll always be grateful to Rick and the RecoveryNow community for giving me the foundation to make lasting change."

"I am a Grateful Recovered Alcoholic. I was a tenant of Recovery NOW Transitional Living for a year. This place was pivotal in my recovery from alcoholism. I was there with four other men who also suffered from alcoholism. Living at Recovery NOW gave me the structure and accountability I needed. Rick ran this place with professionalism and care. I can say with 100 percent certainty that had I not stayed there, I wouldn’t have the success that I have in Alcoholics Anonymous. I would highly recommend [to] anyone coming out of treatment or looking for a solid recovery plan into transitional living, [to] definitely take a look into Recovery NOW. Homes are very clean and well maintained in a very affordable price range. I was less than a mile away from an A.A. meeting which was awesome. Would like to thank Mr. Wheeler again for his service and support. Thank You."
